Placentia Heritage Day Car Show October 2022 with Video.

Spectacular Cars and Interesting People.

I haven’t been to many car shows this season, so it was a treat to visit and see a multitude of spectacular cars.

Placentia Heritage Day Car Show is part of the Heritage Day celebration which also includes a parade.

The show is held at the 40-acre Tri-City Regional Park in Placentia. For me this is the first time seeing a car show at this park, but I have trained dogs here. It’s a great park for a quick or leisurely walk around the lake. The park itself is an enjoyable experience.

The car show area.

I thought the whole park was going to be filled with vintage and custom cars. However, only a small area was dedicated to the actual car show. What it lacked in size it made up for in the quality of the cars on display.

While not the fanciest car at the show, I think my favorite was a 1949 Austin Pickup Truck left hand drive made for the American market.

I talked with a local resident of the neighborhood and he said the “car show was smaller than in the past.” He really thought it would be much larger this year. Especially now that we are coming out of Covid and getting back to a somewhat regular life.

It’s not only a car show, but a slice of community.

The Placentia Heritage Day Car Show has a lot more to offer than fabulous cars. The show also featured entertainment of various sorts. There was a band, a petting zoo, and lots of vendors. Food vendors seemed to be some of the most popular.

One of the things I liked about this car show is the band was playing quite far from the cars. Having the band away from the cars has two benefits. First, having the band at a distance makes talking to the car owners easier. There is less noise and more signal. The second is that I will have more usable video. One problem with most car shows is the music. Capturing background music with a copyright makes it so I can’t use a lot of the video I get.

The nonprofit vendors were fun and enlightening to talk with.

There were also quite a few insightful nonprofits shedding light on the historic narratives of the past.

While the cars were great, I enjoyed talking with many of the nonprofit vendors as much as seeing the cars.

I have built the My On The Road dot com site so we can feature events. I plan on seeing many of the nonprofits I met at the show promoting their events on the site in the near future. Some of the more notable groups I liked talking with were the history organizations. These were comprised of reenactment groups, heritage groups, and historical societies.

Next year I would like to attend this event early enough to see the Heritage Day Parade.

That’s it for this adventure at the Placentia Heritage Day Car Show. I look forward to meeting you while out exploring a California adventure.
