Ace Hardware in Long Beach California Palo Verde and Spring with Video.

Recently I visited the Ace Hardware in Long Beach on Palo Verde and Spring to get a new battery for my car key. In fact the little video I did is what prompted this post. They also sell modern car keys and have the equipment to program the key to your car. The first time I saw them programming a key I had to ask “what are you doing?” Their services can be as important as their products.

This is the neighborhood hardware store with knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly staff. Not only are the people working here helpful, but the owners are great people as well. I always enjoy chatting with these people.

One of the events I have witnessed at this Ace Hardware is the seldom seen sight of old employees coming in to say hi to their former employers. That is something you don’t see too often. Sometimes these past employees are coming in from out of town and just have to come by to say hi and see how the owners are doing. The unique thing about these reunions is that at this Ace Hardware, the one on Spring and Palo Verdes, I have seen it occur more than once.

When I need a hard to find item the Ace Hardware in east Long Beach always seems to have it.

Do you have an old door or window that needs to be rescreened?

They do wonderful work with rescreening screen doors and they also do window screens. I have met people that come from all over to have their screens done here. One memorable customer had an antique screen door done here. Once rescreened that antique door was not only beautiful, but functional too.

There are a lot of doors rescreened because of door-dashing dogs. Ace is the place for your seasonal and holiday decorations and celebration.

They also carry seasonal items. For several years I’ve seen where they will still be able to get fans when all the big box stores sell out and are not receiving new inventory.

I have not been in much for the last couple of years since the Coronavirus problem, but they have always had a very well supplied BBQ section in the summertime.

In July this Ace Hardware also has a good supply of American Flags and other summertime favorites.

Many people I’ve talked with like the selection of yard decorations and ornaments they carry. If you like vintage signs and other nostalgic home decorations, they have those too.

They even have big blowup yard ornaments for Thanksgiving. How about a big turkey for your front yard.

Of course there are decorations for Halloween. There are big dragons and other Halloween themed decorations.

Perhaps the most decorated part of the year is Christmas, and for this celebration they don’t disappoint. There are a multitude of Christmas decorations. While they always have a lot of these decorations, I don’t think I have any photos for the Christmas time of the year.

One of the items they carry, or at least used to, are galvanized pails not made in China. I think those in the photo are from Mexico. Additionally they usually have a nice selection of gardening tools.

Let’s not forget one of my favorite treats and that is vintage soda pop. This is the place to get vintage root beer and other old time soda pop favorites.
