My On The Road Rocket Stove
Building a DIY My On The Road Rocket Stove, which is a cross of a hobo stove with a rocket stove. Not so much a hybrid, but more of a morph or variation in the hobo / rocket stove family.
Sure, I could buy a small camp stove, but I wanted to make one instead. Perhaps this is a carryover from my teen years and days of primitive camping. When I was a youngster I liked to make my own primitive camping gear including my moccasins. Then I would go out camping and mountain manning. I was pretty good at starting a fire with flint and steel.
I’ve been wanting a little wood burning camp stove for quite some time. I started thinking about getting a little stove when Google started neglecting their Google plus platform and my “It’s coffee time” Tumblr posts would get banned for a few days. Those temporary bans were always caused by some new and unfixed glitch in the platform. I used to have over one million followers on G-Plus. I really miss the people I met over there. A few of them have stayed connected, but a lot of them have drifted off to other platforms.
Well, I finally got around to building a little wood stove to take on my road adventures.
I’m only using simple hand tools to make this stove. Yep, we’re sticking to low technology manufacturing on this fine day. The plan was to only use a hammer, punch, pliers, and my Swiss Army Knife. That didn’t work as well as I thought it would, so I found my 1960s Spanish bolo bayonet and SOG multi tool.
If I make another stove like this one it should go much quicker and the manufacturing will be done differently.
We will be testing and using this stove in the near future. To see how I plan on using it check out episode 51 of “It’s Coffee Time With Andrew” It’s in the YouTube Coffee Time playlist.
